Counselling

Taanishi - hello! My name is Danielle Bergevin, I have completed a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from The University of British Columbia - Okanagan Campus, and I am a registered social worker. On my dad’s side, I am Métis from the Red River Settlement, and both of my mom’s parents immigrated from Norway to Vancouver.

Mental health is my passion, which is why I am drawn to counselling. In my practice, my primary goal is to create a safe and culturally relevant space that honours your individuality, unique experiences, strengths, and wisdom. I strongly believe in holistic mental health care, recognizing the importance of balance in physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellness.

In my practice I incorporate, person centered, solution focused brief therapy, somatic approaches, as well as mindfulness approaches. The most important thing to me in the therapeutic setting is focusing on building a trusting relationship with each other. I believe that it is important that everyone feels comfortable in the therapeutic process, my job is to hold space, to walk beside you, and to create an environment where you feel supported.

I see therapy as a process that we engage in together collaboratively. We can work together on setting intentions for our time together. What I provide in session is a caring, non-judgemental, inclusive and respectful environment, with active listening and emotional validation. Each session varies, but things that you might be able to expect are, exploring feelings and emotions, psychoeducation, support and empowerment.

I am honoured to walk alongside and witness clients in their life journeys and healing processes. I deeply value and cherish the trust placed in me as a counsellor.

Some of my favourite things to do in my free time are, swimming, hiking, reading, camping, beading, and enjoying a cup of tea!
